The night concluded with a well-fought 3-hour battle by no. 1 Fan, falling just short in the third set to rookie standout Sarah Lang-Gould.
Co-club lead Viktoria Abanos shared: “Very impressive performance from UBC this weekend against [University of Victoria] across all matches, including the off-court players whose cheering and support allowed the on-court players to perform well. There were tougher matches, and our players were able to overcome various setbacks and continued fighting, setting an excellent example and building anticipation for the rest of the season.”
The UBC TSC Women’s Tennis season continues this weekend, with matches against two NCAA teams in Oregon on February 18th and 19th. Thereafter, the Thunderbirds will be working hard in preparation for the Western Canadian Championships, taking place Sunday, March 5th.
