TSC Weekend Round Up: Feb 18/19

Happy reading week! Our athletes enjoyed competition in the snow and on the courts last weekend.

Nordic Skiing

BC Cup #2 | Revelstoke, BC | February 18th-19th, 2023

The T-Birds were on fire this weekend in Revelstoke, B.C. for BC Cup #2! Saturday’s Skate Sprint landed Maggie Beckner and Anna Chatterton on the podium, with Matthew Broder close behind the top 3 in the Men’s U20 category.

On Sunday, Josh Goh and Erika Peterson managed to break the top 3 in their respective categories with some strong classic striding!

Men’s Tennis

Canadian University Regionals | Vancouver, BC | February 17th-19th, 2023

UBC Men’s Tennis started off their national title defence with our regionals against UVIC and SFU. With commanding victories in our competitions – 7-0 versus UVIC and 6-1 versus SFU – these wins advanced us to Westerns where we will be heading to Edmonton to compete against the University of Alberta on March 5th for a trip to Nationals!

Women’s Tennis

UBC Thunderbirds Women’s Tennis Sport Club vs. Linfield, Portland State | Portland, OR | February 18-19th, 2023

This past weekend, the UBC TSC Women’s Tennis Team travelled down south to compete against two U.S. NCAA teams in Oregon. The Thunderbirds came out on top 5-2 against Div III team Linfield, putting forth a strong performance, particularly on the doubles end where they only dropped four games overall.
On Sunday, they got the chance to play Div I school Portland State. The Thunderbirds had some impressive performances, but fell short 0-7. Overall, it was a fantastic opportunity to play some high caliber matches ahead of the Western Canadian Championships in two weeks.

That’s all from then! This week our Alpine Skiing team competes at Regionals in hopes to qualify for Nationals.
But this upcoming weekend where plenty of our TSC teams go back to action! Men’s and Women’s Ultimate host rivals UVic, at the Dogwood Bowl; Sailing hosts CICSA Match Racing Nationals; Table Tennis fights for their bid to Nationals and Nordic Skiing takes on the Coast Outdoor Payak! Lots of action to cap off the short month!
