UBC Vancouver’s Staff & Faculty Sports Day returned this year with a historical turnout! This year we had 567 participants, 117 teams, 22 activity stations, and an all-new beer garden as part of the Sports Day Après experience. Each team had the opportunity to participate in various activities of their choosing, attempting to complete the most activities during their 1.5-hour time slot. Needless to say, the day was filled with some friendly competition. The teams SUDs and ChatAPSC came out on top: emerging as our overall winners for the afternoon.
Aside from all the fierce competition, there was plenty of opportunity for participants to create new connections across departments and solidify existing friendships within their teams. There were also lots of costumes on display, as many teams wanted to showcase their team spirit! We wrapped up the afternoon with some snacks and beverages as the teams celebrated their efforts from the day. New for this year, the après portion of the event included a beer garden. Following this, we held our awards ceremony where we were able to recognize the award winners and hand out prizes for our outstanding participants.
A big thank you to everyone who participated! From the organizing team and event day staff, it was a true pleasure to see so many smiling faces and be able to bring our school community together for a bit of fun! We are looking forward to hosting this event again next year!
