UBC TSC Men’s Ultimate traveled down to Eugene, Oregon this past weekend to play in a preseason tournament called OFUDG. It was the first time the Men’s Ultimate team has ever played an American tournament before January and it was marked by impressive performances and valuable insights on what to work on in the future.

Competing against difficult regional opponents and showcasing our new rookies in the American scene was the achievement we went down looking for and that made the trip worth it. Despite facing tough competition, our team ended up making the quarterfinals and finishing 5th!

This preseason success holds significant meaning for our upcoming season. It not only reaffirms our team’s capabilities but also highlights areas for further improvement. The tournament served as a crucial platform for gauging our readiness and identifying strategies to enhance our overall performance. The experience provided invaluable lessons that will undoubtedly contribute to our development in the upcoming season.

The UO/UBC Triple Hunt Seat Show marked the exciting kickoff of the season in Eugene, Oregon, spanning three days of competition across Shows A, B, and C. UBC claimed the spotlight as the highpoint team in both Shows A and B, with stellar performances from Madi as the highpoint rider and Justine securing reserve highpoint.

Notably, this competition was many team member’s first show experience ever, including Bella, Nancy, Munira, and Milena. A standout moment came from Sierra, who not only made her IHSA debut but also won all three of her classes!

We are thankful for the opportunity to ride a variety of horses and for Coach Nat’s guidance. The journey to Eugene involved a tedious and lengthy drive but fostered incredible team bonding along the way – shoutout to our exceptional drivers. Overall, the show was a success,  setting a wonderful start to the season!

Stay tuned later on this week to see how Sailing did at Fleet Racing Nationals in Halifax!
