Men’s Ultimate
UBC Men’s Ultimate headed down to San Diego, California this weekend for our first attendance of the President’s Day Invite. The weather was hot and we were excited for our first 3-day college tournament. We were seeded 5th which put us second in our pool and we were excited to see the talent going to this tournament. We started off the day with a universe loss but the T-birds brought the game back close but ended up losing 12-11. We ended off with the first day with two universe point losses and one win which left our record at 1-2. Sadly with a weird tournament format, we were eliminated from the bracket and were playing in consolation power pools on Day 2. We ended off day 2 by going 3-0 in consolidation power pools. This brought us to Day 3 where we played our rivals Utah State Scottsman. With a close game that went back and forth, we ended up losing 11-9. We finished off Day 3 with a win and finished 11th in the tournament. Although the result weren’t exactly what we wanted, we still have learned so much and the experience we gained from this tournament was unmatched. Can’t wait to see what the T-birds can cook up in the following tournaments because we can only go up from here! Catch us in Victoria this weekend for the annual Dogwood Bowl where we play our BC rivals Victoria Vikes in a one-winner-takes-all game!
