Race Schedules

Race schedules are now live on our website! Please note that the schedule may undergo changes over the next few days. The final schedule will be posted on Thursday, March 7 at 11:00 AM.

Quick Links:

Registration Location: UBC LIFE Building - north side of MacInnes Field (details below)
Wetbag Transition Location: MacInnes field ADJACENT (north side)

Our team will be offering day of race package pick-up. Ensure to arrive at least 90 minutes prior to your race and bring a physical copy of government issued photo identification to pick up your race package. The registration area will open at 6:00AM, and is located in the UBC Life Building.

If you have already picked up your race package and are wearing your wristband, head straight to the Cycle Transition Check-In Tent. All participants must have their wristband on prior to checking in their bike and to race. The Cycle Transition area will open at 6:00AM.

Curtsey bike checks will be offered on race day. If you are having a minor problem please see Velofix, located near cycle check in. No major repairs or service will be offered. If you are getting your bike checked on race day, ensure to leave ample time for this process, as we expect queues to form. Please arrive approximately 120 minutes prior to your race time for this service.

After passing through the cycle check-in tent, please rack your bike in the cycle transition zone. Each bike rack holds 8 bikes, with 4 on each side. Please be considerate when setting up your transition zone. This should be completed 60-75 minutes before your race, but no more than 2 hours before. Please remove your bike within 30 minutes of finishing your race.

After racking your bike, triathletes will head to the UBC Aquatics Centre. Ensure you have your wristband on, and your wetbag labelled and packed. You can find a map of the course with the Aquatic Centre labelled on our website. Please do not shower before you get stamped with your race number by the pool staff.

After checking in at Cycle Transition, you will be meeting inside the UBC Life Building across from the Starbucks, where you will receive your timing chip. From there you will be walked to your starting location. Remember that if you have not picked up your package, you will need to go to registration (in the Life Building) before checking in at the Cycle Transition with your bike, and then back to the Life Building to get your timing chip.

When racing, upon finishing the run lap, you will go through the run chute to cycle transition. From there you will get your bike and complete the cycle component of your race. Once completed, you will return to the run course through the same run chute as your first transition.

The Duathlon will start no later than 8:15AM, so please be sure to be on time for your race. Timing chips will be assigned starting at 6:30AM. Feel free to wait inside the UBC LIFE Building between that time, we will begin the walk to the run starting line promptly at 7:50AM.

If your entire relay team has already picked up their race packages and wristband, please proceed straight to cycle check-in. As every athlete needs a wristband, if one member has already picked up the package, the others will need to check in at registration at the UBC Life Building to get their wristband before racing.

Please ensure the correct team members have the correct pieces of the race number allocated to them.

- Swimmer: wristband | wetbag
- Cyclist: wristband | bike & helmet stickers
- Runner: wristband | race bib on the race belt; the race number to be seen from the front

After completing this, relay swimmers will head to the Aquatic Centre. The Cyclist and Runner will meet in the Relay Exchange Tent, located in the Cycle Transition Zone in the North-East corner.

For all kids/youth races, please note the turnaround markers at the Beaty Biodiversity Museum. There will be staff on route and signage to ensure participants are heading in the right direction, but please look at this ahead of time.

Kids Aquathlon: the run portion of the aquathon will be lead by a "rabbit" (staff member to guide aquathletes), and followed by a "turtle" (staff member to take up the rear and ensure safety of all aquathletes).

To pick up their package and/or wristband, all kids and youth participants MUST have a parent or guardian present with them, and a waiver must be signed by that parent/guardian.

  • Can I warm-up in the pool?
    • No. There are no lifeguards supervising non-race pools. You are welcome to stretch on the pool deck.
  • What if I didn't order a t-shirt but I would like one?
    • You will not be able to buy a shirt as they were made to order.
  • Can I put my run clothes in the Cycle Transition area?
    • Yes. You have some space underneath your bike, where you can leave your running shoes, a snack, and anything else you'd need. Bring a waterproof bag in case it's raining!
  • Are there change tents?
    • Yes. There are three change tents outside the pool (male, female, universal) and one universal change tent in the Cycle Transition area.
  • How do wet bags work?
    • You will put everything you will need once you're out of the pool in the blue bag your race package came in. Drop your bag off with the pool staff. When you come out of the pool, you will go to the wet bag area and go to the tent with a sign that corresponds to your heat. A volunteer will hand it to you and you can get changed in the change area outside of the pool. Once you're done, check your bag in with the volunteers and you can pick it up after your race. You must have your wristband or race bib to pick up your wet bag after the race.
  • Where is the best place to watch my triathlete race?
    • We recommend the Alumni Centre! You can grab a hot drink from Loafe and stand by the finish chute to watch your triathlete cross the finish line. Additionally, if you want to watch athletes swim, you can watch from the mezzanine of the Aquatic Centre.
