The UBC Aquatic Centre is pleased to announce that the Annual Preventative Maintenance Closure (APMC) is complete for 2024, and that we are reopening with limited programming on Sunday, April 21. Limited programming will be available during the first week of operations. We will be closed Sunday, April 28 for an all staff training day with our student-staff. Reopening for full spring term with more regular operating hours and programs as of Monday, April 29.
The APMC has allowed facility staff, trades, and contractors to perform important work on the building and aquatic systems. Highlights include:
- Overhauled 6 large filters with 7,000 parts inspected, cleaned and re-assembled
- Over 1.9 million tiles have been cleaned, inspected, and some repaired
- 400m of deck drain lifted and cleaned
- 423 lockers cleaned and inspected
- Drained and refilled 5,000,000 liters of water (*see sustainability info online)
A commitment to on-going and annual maintenance will allow the community to enjoy the benefits of the facility for decades to come.

Memberships & Rates
Please note the following for membership products & sales:
- 1-month memberships sales will resume on April 21
- 4-month memberships will be extended from March 29 to April 20 (23 days) starting April 21
- 10-visit memberships and 1-year memberships are unaffected as the APMC is included in the original purchase price.
Facility Access
Please be aware that the hours of operation listed on our contact page are only for the hours when the Operations Desk is staffed and operational. For specific details when the various tanks, amenities and programs are available, all guests and facility users are encouraged to consult the UBC Aquatic Centre Schedule prior to any visit.
Amenities
Guests should be aware that the hot tub, steam room, and sauna are amenities that may or may not be open during your visit.
- If the recreation pool or leisure pool is offering a swim session, the hot tub will be open
- If the competition pool is offering a swim session, the steam and sauna room will be open
Please consult the facility schedule or contact the UBC Aquatic Centre to confirm if they are open prior to your visit.
Hourly Lockers & Locker Rentals
The UBC Aquatic Centre has a variety of locker rental options available:
- Hourly use lockers are available for $0.25 or $1.00 depending on the size of the locker. Lockers are located in the Universal, Women’s and Men’s changing spaces, and have a max usage time of 3 hours.
- Long-term locker rentals can be rented on a term-basis from the front desk at the UBC Aquatic Centre. Spring and summer locker rentals will be available beginning April 22, 2024 at the UBC Aquatic Centre.
Please note: the UBC Aquatic Centre is a high traffic area, and we encourage all guests to utilize these services as UBC Recreation is not responsible for lost or damaged property or contents of the locker.
