For Team Captains: Please check your email for your Captain’s Package, which includes essential details on what needs to be completed before your first game. Here’s when you can expect to receive your Captain’s Package email:
- Basketball, Soccer, and Ice Hockey: September 17
- Volleyball, Ultimate, Pickleball, and Badminton: September 18
- Roundnet, Flag Football, Dodgeball, and Futsal: September 19
If you haven’t received your Captain’s Package by the specified date, please reach out to us at intramurals.info@ubc.ca or call 604-822-9052 as soon as possible.
Things to do Before First Day of Play:
- Set up your UBC Recreation login (Action Required: All Participants)
- To avoid delays, all team members should complete their UBC Recreation login setup at least 24 hours before roster submission.
- Update your team roster (Action Required: Team Captains)
- Team Captains need to submit their teams roster before 5:00 pm the day before your first scheduled game.
- Check your game schedules:

- Sign the digital waiver in order to play (Action Required: All Participants)
- Players will receive their waivers via email after being added to the roster. This must be signed in order to play.
Game Day Reminders:
- Arrive at venue: Check your team schedule and arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the scheduled start time.
- Signing in: Players must sign in at the desk showing a physical government-issued photo ID every week (e.g. driver’s license, UBC Card, passport, BC ID card, etc.). Online UBC Card, pictures or other forms of ID will not be accepted, and members of your team who do not have appropriate IDs will not be allowed to participate.
Uniform & Team Roster Deadline | November 1, 2024
- *Team rosters must be submitted by November 1, 2024. No new additions can be made after this date.
- After November 1, 2024, all teams must have similar coloured jerseys with permanent 6-inch numbers on the back. Simple shirts with clear, visible numbers are acceptable (no tape).
*Your teams ID, access code, and team roster form can all be found in your team Captains ‘Captain’s Package email’.
Intramurals Rules & Regulations:
Participants are required to comply with the UBC Intramurals Universal Rules and Policies and League Specific Rules. Please ensure that all team members go through the policies and rule documents so that leagues can run smoothly.
Important Policies Overview:
- Default Policy: A default occurs if a team fails to provide the minimum number of players within 15 minutes of the game start. The defaulting team automatically loses and receives 2 missed game points. Teams defaulting twice in a season are removed from league play without a refund.
- Forfeit Policy: A forfeit happens if a team uses non-roster players to meet the minimum number or fails to meet gender requirements for Mixed leagues, or if an ineligible player is used. The forfeiting team receives 1 missed game point.
- Cancellation Policy: Teams can cancel games by providing written notice at least 3 school days in advance. The cancelling team receives 1 missed game point.
- Missed Game Points:
- Default: 2 points
- Forfeit/Cancellation: 1 point each
- Accumulating 3 missed game points means no playoffs eligibility. Accumulating 4 missed game points results in removal from the league without a refund.
- Playoff Eligibility: Players must participate in at least 2 regular-season games (or 3 in Cross Volleyball, Dodgeball, and Thunderbird Roundnet) and sign in before each game to be eligible for playoffs.
Important Dates:
- September 21: All Leagues Start
- September 29-30: No Games Scheduled
- October 12-14: No Games Scheduled
- November 1: Roster and Jersey Deadline
- November 9-13: No Games Scheduled
- December 5: End of Leagues Term 1
