Over Half of TSC Student Athletes Recognized with Academic Thunderbird Award

The TSC Academic Thunderbird Award honours student-athletes who have excelled in the classroom as well as their competitive field. This award recognizes athletes who achieved an 80% or higher sessional average while competing for their sport club.*

The 2023-2024 season saw an impressive 161 student-athletes recognized with the Academic Thunderbird Award. This figure represents 51 percent of all sport club athletes in the program last year. It is equally impressive that these student-athletes are achieving this at a Top 40 university in the world.

Six sport clubs finished with a team average above 80%, namely Alpine Skiing, Artistic Swimming, Cycling, Nordic Skiing, Triathlon, and Women’s Ultimate. TSC Nordic Skiing held the highest average amongst all teams, with a commendable team GPA of 82.31%, spanning from undergraduate to graduate students across various faculties.
