HIRING: Spring Break Instructors (March)

 

Camp Instructors are responsible for planning and implementing a variety of camps based on their individual skillset; ensuring all policies and procedures are adhered to; supervising groups of children and youth; organizing camp supplies and equipment; set-up and clean-up duties; as well as other duties as required for camps to operate smoothly. Some day camps are activity specific, while others are more general in nature.

Expertise we are hiring for includes art, badminton, biking, creative writing, multisport, musical theatre, outdoor education, performing arts, physical literacy, skateboarding, soccer and track & field!


Description of Duties:
  • Planning and facilitating age appropriate lesson plans and activities
  • Adhering to all UBC Camp’s policies and procedures
  • Supervising children and youth ages 6-13 years old
  • Implementing positive behavior management strategies
  • Administering care in emergency and first aid incidents, exercising sound judgement and leadership, deferring to supervisors where appropriate
  • Other duties as necessary

Qualifications:

  • Previous coaching, work or volunteer experience with children in group settings
  • Relevant certifications: National Coaching Certification, High Five, etc.
  • Area specific knowledge and expertise

Prerequisites:

  • Criminal Record Check with a Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Current Standard First Aid Certification with CPR-C + AED
  • Ability to use personal cell phone for work purposes, including data required

Contract Length:

March 17-21 and March 24-28, 2025. Full-time and part-time hours available.

Mandatory pre-camp training:

  • Friday March 7 Evening (In-Person)
  • Saturday March 8 All Day (In-Person)
  • Thursday March 13 Evening (Virtual, Zoom)
  • Online Modules – flexible
Wage:

$17.40 – $28.00 per hour, dependent upon qualifications and past experience.
