The UBC Aquatic Centre is pleased to announce that the Annual Preventative Maintenance Closure (APMC) is complete for 2025, and that we are reopening for full spring term with more regular operating hours and programs as of Monday, April 28.
The APMC has allowed facility staff, trades, and contractors to perform important work on the building and aquatic systems. Highlights include:
- Overhauled 6 large filters with 7,000 parts inspected, cleaned and re-assembled
- Over 1.9 million tiles have been cleaned, inspected, and some repaired
- 400m of deck drain lifted and cleaned
- 423 lockers cleaned and inspected
- Drained and refilled 5,000,000 liters of water (*see sustainability info online)
A commitment to on-going and annual maintenance will allow the community to enjoy the benefits of the facility for decades to come.
