7 Tips to Enjoy Your Visit

  1. Scan in with your UBC Card – If you already have a fitness membership, you can use UBC Card or UBC Recreation card to scan in to enter the fitness centre at either of the L0 or L2 fitness desks.
  2. Cleaning cloths – In lieu of paper towels, cleaning cloths and spray bottles are available throughout Rec North. Please help keep the building clean and safe by wiping down equipment after each use and disposing of dirty cloths in the labelled bins.
  3. Warm up on the indoor track – track access is free for UBC students, faculty, and staff as well as included in fitness memberships, so consider incorporating some warm up laps after you check-in at the L2 Fitness Desk.
  4. Olympic lifting – Chalk? Bumper plates? Dropping weights? Yes, these are all allowed but keep in mind all of these are only permitted in the Olympic lifting area on L0.
  5. Rent a locker for just $25 – Term long locker rentals have been reduced to $25, so if you’re planning to be a regular visitor this is a great way to have your own space in the building. A limited number of short-term lockers are also available, just be sure to bring your own lock.
  6. More than meets the eye – Staff at the L0 and L2 Fitness Desks can help you sign out small equipment like resistance bands, foam rollers, wrist straps, etc.
  7. Be considerate & kind – Whether it’s returning your weights or letting someone else work in, you’re an important part of helping us to create a great fitness centre!

We hope you’re as excited as we are for the Recreation North Fitness Centre and we can’t wait for you to come visit!
