Dear UBC students,
Are you passionate about movement, event planning and content creation? Are you looking for a fun and rewarding way to make some extra money during the school year? Do you rock the colour teal? Well, if this sounds like you, you should apply to join the Move U Crew! We are currently hiring crew members for the upcoming academic year. APPLY HERE!
Hi, my name is Tessa, and I am part of the 25/26 Move U Crew. It might sound a little cheesy, but the Move U Crew wasn’t just a job for me, it was a community, and I am sure if you asked anyone on the 25/26 team, they would relay a similar message.

I joined the Crew at the beginning of my second year, hoping for an easy way to earn some extra money and, when I walked into training on the first day, I won’t lie, I was a little nervous. It seemed like such a wide array of people; I would have never imagined the team that we would become.
Day by day, week by week, I was thrown into situations that grew my confidence, leadership skills and strengthened my capacity to adapt and learn. From leading movement breaks in lecture halls, to running Move More Learn More (an amazing women’s program) I was given so many amazing opportunities to engage with campus life, speak publicly and plan events which really allowed me to make a difference in the UBC community.
However, it wasn’t until we ran our first big event, Thrive, that I realized how lucky I was to have this team.
While gathering equipment we jumped down the halls singing and laughing, making a tedious task into something we would then look forward to. While setting up everyone took charge of their own little worlds, Beth chatting with the booths making them feel welcome and excited, Kennice, phone in hand, capturing every little moment, and Emily with a smile on her face making sure not only that everything was running smoothly but that everyone was having a good time.
Our team came together around a shared mission: to get the campus excited and on its feet, bringing movement and community to an otherwise dull Vancouver day. Thrive was very successful, and once everything had wrapped up, we sat on the gym floor eating our Chipotle bowls debriefing how it went. The conclusion that afternoon on the dusty SRC floor was that we were a great team, and we made a lot of people smile, laugh and move, therefore it was a success. The conversation wasn’t about numbers or attendance totals, it was about the people we had met, the laughs we heard, and the energy we had brought to campus that day. We ran many more events after that, from Recess to Just Dance, I was given so many opportunities to bond with this team and make a community inside of UBC Rec. Our office in Rec North has become my home base, and I finally feel like I really rock a teal t-shirt. So, to anyone out there looking for a job during the 26/27 school year that will get you on your feet, give you a new network of people, and provide you with many cool opportunities to lead and learn, the Move U Crew is definitely for you. Check out the posting on UBC Careers, the application deadline is March 25, 2026. Love, Tessa <3
