This past week, the UBC Women’s Ultimate team capped off an incredible season with a silver-medal finish at the USAU D-I National Championships in Rockford, Illinois.
Entering as the second seed, the team dominated pool play with point differentials of +8 or higher in every game. They swept through the bracket, defeating Colorado (15-8) in the quarterfinals and Stanford (15-11) in the semifinals, before falling just short in a hard-fought national final against Carleton. The team walks away as national runners-up with hearts full of gratitude, curiosity, and love.

In a historic milestone for the program, UBC’s own Mika Kurahashi received the prestigious Callahan Award (given to the most valuable player in college ultimate), making her the first-ever recipient from both UBC and Canada.
Battling through fierce winds and intense heat, the team showcased their skill, mental fortitude, and composure on one of the sport’s biggest stages.
