Aqua Bootcamp | Aqua Fitness at the UBC Aquatic Centre

Challenge your fitness level and improve your cardio conditioning alternating with strength, balance, and core training segments while exercising in shallow water. This class features interval training, power and propulsive moves to challenge you without the stress on the joints. This is a higher intensity Aqua Fitness class.

This is a Drop-In Aqua Fitness class offered in the Recreation Pool.

Aqua Zumba | Aqua Fitness at the UBC Aquatic Centre

Aqua Zumba is a high energy, calorie burning aqua fitness class and easy to follow exercise moves performed in shallow water to Latin music. The music and the exercise will keep you coming back for more. Get energized! Registration is required; no drop-in admission available.

This is a Specialty Aqua Fitness class offered in the Recreation Pool.


Circuit Aqua Fitness | Aqua Fitness at the UBC Aquatic Centre

Personalize your workout by going at your own pace in this class in shallow water. You will spend 1 minute at each station working different major muscle groups. This is a complete body workout & suitable for all fitness levels and swim levels.

This is a Drop-In Aqua Fitness class.

Deep Water Aqua Fitness | Aqua Fitness at the UBC Aquatic Centre

Improve cardiovascular fitness, muscular endurance, and flexibility with this deep-water workout.

This is a Drop-In Aqua Fitness class offered in the Recreation Pool.


Deep to the Core | Aqua Fitness at the UBC Aquatic Centre

This class has no impact on your joints, but it has an enormous impact on your cardiovascular system and core strength with the help of the resistance in the water! Equipment and a selection of core exercises will be used to enhance strength training and core strengthening. Floatation belts will be provided, or try exercising without the belt for a greater emphasis on core and cardiovascular conditioning. Participants must be comfortable in deep water.

Get Wet & Sweat | Aqua Fitness at the UBC Aquatic Centre

A combination of shallow and deep water classes that focus on cardio endurance, core stabilization, strength, balance, and flexibility. You choose the depth and take it to your own personal level of exertion! Participants of all ages and levels of fitness are welcome.

High Energy Aqua Fitness | Aqua Fitness at the UBC Aquatic Centre

Shallow water exercise to get your morning started right! This low impact, high energy challenge will improve cardiorespiratory endurance, muscular strength, flexibility, balance and core muscles.

This is a Drop-In Aqua Fitness class takes place in the Recreation Pool.

Hydro Board Fitness | Aqua Fitness at the UBC Aquatic Centre

Hydro Board Fitness is a specialized Aqua Fitness class performed on floating Stand-Up Boards/Mats. Participants will work through a number of different routines while maintaining balance on Hydro Boards and constantly working their core. Get energized and don’t fall in!

Hydro Board Yoga | Aqua Fitness at the UBC Aquatic Centre

Hydro Board Yoga is a specialized Aqua Fitness class performed on floating Stand-Up Boards/Mats. Strengthen your core muscles, find your ‘balance’ between mind, body, and soul through this Yoga class. All skill levels welcome and encouraged to practice at their own pace.

Parent and Baby Aquafit | Aqua Fitness at the UBC Aquatic Centre

Fitness and fun for the parent and baby! Ease back into fitness and introduce your baby to the water. Your aquafit instructor will lead you through 45 minutes of cardio and muscular endurance while incorporating your baby in movements to the sound of music. Infants should be at least 6 months old.

This is a Drop-In Aqua Fitness offered in the Leisure Pool.


Seniors Fitness | Aqua Fitness at the UBC Aquatic Centre

Mild stretching, relaxation, balance, and core exercises on the pool deck, followed by 30 minutes of shallow water exercise performed to music.

Shallow Aqua Fitness | Aqua Fitness at the UBC Aquatic Centre

Performed in chest-depth water with music to get you motivated and moving. Class includes muscular strength and endurance, core stability, flexibility, and more.

Aqua Yoga | Aqua Fitness at the UBC Aquatic Centre

Rekindle the connection between Mind, Body and Soul to the water in this warm-water Yoga class. Loosen muscles and joints, increase flexibility and improve balance through hydrostatic pressure and breathing techniques. Taught by a certified Yoga instructor.

River Walking | Aqua Fitness at the UBC Aquatic Centre

Walking is one of the best forms of exercise. Walking against a gentle current in the warm lazy river is even better. This form of exercise is ideal for individuals with disabilities, neuromuscular or heart disease, injuries or joint replacements. This low-impact workout is easy on the joints while the water’s resistance develops muscular and core strength, balance and conditioning. All fitness levels can participate.

Aqua Therapy | Aqua Fitness at the UBC Aquatic Centre

Aquatic therapy exercises are performed in the warmer water. Aqua therapy can be beneficial in treating a variety of medical conditions such as arthritis and fibromyalgia, stroke recovery, diabetes, osteoporosis, joint pain and sports injuries. Water resistance is a gentle, but effective strengthening tool, ideal for recovery. The focus will be on low and non-weight bearing activities, mobility, easy stretching for joint flexibility and mild resistance exercises.

Fit4Two Prenatal Program | Aqua Fitness at the UBC Aquatic Centre

Exercising in the water is refreshing and rejuvenating during pregnancy and following birth.  All Fit4Two instructors are certified Pre and Post natal fitness specialists and follow the guidelines of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Canada (SOGC). Par-Med-X for Pregnancy from must be signed by your health care provider (physician or midwife) prior to you participating in class. This form can be downloaded at www.fit4two.ca. Registration is required; no drop in admission available.

Coached Express Workout | Aqua Fitness at the UBC Aquatic Centre

Get fit during your lunch break! Improve your swim strokes and endurance through interval training and stroke drills. Great for triathletes, masters and recreational swimmers. A coach will provide training workouts, stroke correction and development instruction, breathing, flip turn and racing start techniques. Prerequisite: Must be able to swim 50m.

Swim Fit | Aqua Fitness at the UBC Aquatic Centre

Improve skills and endurance through distance swimming, stroke correction, and interval training. This coached-supervised program is great for the recreational swimmer who would like to improve strength, endurance, and cardiovascular training.
