Community Team Building at Day of the LongBoat

What is Day of the Longboat?

This signature UBC event takes place on the shores of Jericho Beach with over 3,000 people paddling in the largest voyageur canoe race in the world. Your team of 8-10 paddlers will compete against other boats in an initial heat, vying for a place in the finals. Teams in the finals compete for a coveted Day of the Longboat trophy and UBC Intramurals championship shirt.

Community teams will receive:

  • Mix-up your weekend exercise routine. Trust us, this is a great workout!
  • Your team is guaranteed two races on race day.
  • A chance to compete for a coveted Day of the LongBoat trophy and UBC Recreation Intramurals championship shirts.

    • Relax and enjoy the Jericho Sailing Centre facilities
    • Grab a bite to eat at the Galley Restaurant
    • Check out other games at the Day of the LongBoat festival

Details

Clinics: Each team must attend a mandatory pre-race safety clinic on Saturday, September 28th prior to their race
Races: Races take place on Saturday, September 28th. Each race takes about 20 minutes, but expect to be here for 1-2 hours to have time to check-in, race, cheer on some other teams, and check out the festival. As a community team, you are guaranteed two races on that day.
Team Structure: Each team must have at least 8 members, up to a maximum of 10.
Cost: $300 per team.

Do you qualify as an alumni team? Only UBC alumni are eligible for the rates below and your entire team must be made up of UBC Alumni. If you want to race with individuals who are not UBC Alumni, register for a Community Team.
