Connect local ecosystems to the global ocean! Designed for ages 8-10, Ocean Explorers Level 2 takes campers on a journey to uncover how species in Vancouver’s waters are connected to global marine ecosystems. Through hands-on activities and engaging lessons, participants will explore the migration and behaviors of marine species like salmon and killer whales, discovering how these creatures rely on interconnected habitats. Guided by UBC students in oceanography and marine biology, and featuring guest educators from Ocean Wise and Parks Canada, this camp dives into the incredible stories of marine life and how our local waters play a role in global ecological networks.
Highlights Include:
- Study killer whales and other migratory species and their incredible journeys.
- Hands-on experiments to model species' movements through global ocean currents.
- Guided canoe trips to observe habitats that support local and visiting marine life.
