Rowing - Performance Fast Track

The Performance Fast Track rowing program is meant for established athletes who are looking for a new sport pathway to continue their high performance journey. Rowing engages 85% of one's muscles, and is considered a late entry sport, making it an ideal pursuit for those who have taken part in previous high level athletic endeavors. Participants will be exposed to the key fundamentals of the rowing stroke and basic components of the sport that will help them be successful in future rowing pursuits. Athletes will try a variety of rowing shells, and with a low coach to athlete ratio, we ensure that athletes are getting direct and effective feedback throughout the camp. Many top juniors, university level, and eventually, National team members come to the sport as they are transitioning out one’s prior sport. Rowing lends itself naturally to taller athletes, who have a good wingspan, and reasonable flexibility. Upon completion, athletes can continue to train with the Thunder Crew Youth Performance team. Whether you are curious about a new sport, looking for that next challenge, or have that burning desire to compete at the highest level possible, this is the camp for you!

Participants in this camp must meet the following specific targets:
- Minimum Previous Sports Level-Playing at the rep level or higher within the last 12 months.

Participants are encouraged to reach out to programs.ubcboathouse@ubc.ca if they have further questions about the program, or the sport of rowing, and progressing through it.
