Updates & Impacts Due to COVID-19 Safety Protocols

UBC Recreation will re-open its fitness centres and resume fitness classes on January 20 with restrictions including capacity limits, advanced bookings, and mandatory masks. Read more about the the changes for fitness activities.

All persons age 5 and older are required to wear a face mask when indoors at UBC Sport Facilities except during physical activity.

Proof of vaccination against COVID-19 is required of all persons aged 12 and older for admittance to UBC Sport Facilities and participation in UBC Recreation and Thunderbirds Sport Club programs. Read about how to get your proof of vaccination as well as the facilities and programs that do not require proof of vaccination.

All visitors should continue to self-assess prior to your visit & please do not visit if you feel unwell.

UBC Camps – COVID Update

All campers age 5 and older participating in indoor camps are required to wear a face mask except during physical activity, snack, lunch, or water breaks. All UBC Camps staff will wear masks when indoors. A reminder that: Campers are only permitted to attend one camp per week and changes to camp groups are prohibited. On-site, daily screening are no longer required, but please do not send your child to camp if they feel unwell.

Upcoming Changes @ UBC Aquatic Centre

Due to the effects of the Omicron variant, temporary changes are being introduced to the schedule and operations at the UBC Aquatic Centre.

Safety Practices

Do a self-assessment, please stay at home if you are sick

Be prepared to provide proof of vaccination

Advanced reservations and bookings required for most programs/activities

Face masks are required for ages 5 and older

Water fountains are limited to refilling of water bottles

Cover your cough or sneeze with your elbow

Wash hands thoroughly & frequently

Use hand sanitizer if you are unable to wash your hands

Additional Safety Information

  • In-person purchases or transactions are cashless and only credit (Mastercard or Visa) or debit is accepted.

UBC Athletics & Recreation will review refunds and credits to persons registered for classes, memberships, and rentals during this period. Communication about refunds and credits will be communicated to affected individuals via email.
