UBC Recreation’s Fitness & Classes programs are offered across two fitness centres, a spin studio, a dojo, and several multi-purpose studios across the UBC Vancouver campus.
The ARC
Facility Features
- 8,000 sq. ft of fitness centre and multi-purpose studio space
- Universal change room facilities
- Personal training specific space
- Functional training space
- Scheduled studio drop-in with speed and heavy punching bags
Location
The ARC is located in the UBC Life Building (formerly the old Student Union Building) on the lower and main levels of the building. As of summer 2022, there is ongoing construction around the Life Building, so access to the lower level (fitness centre and change room areas) of the ARC is most readily accessed by either the elevator in the centre of the building or the east and south stairwells.
Memberships
Current fitness memberships at the BirdCoop will also be valid at the ARC until their expiration. Community, staff, and faculty memberships (1 month, 4 month, 8 month, and 1 year) will be valid for access to the ARC (and the BirdCoop) for the duration of their term. Student memberships begin at $50.00/term and are valid from September 1 onwards. For more information about Fitness Centre memberships.
