While everyone is settling into a new routine at home, UBC Recreation is offering ways to thrive from the comfort of your own space.Working and studying from home can make reducing your sedentary behaviour slightly challenging. The good news is, small changes can have a big impact when it comes to reducing sedentary behaviour and increasing physical activity. The best way to reduce your time sitting is to commit to frequent and short movement breaks. Active breaks, impromptu dance parties, standing during a phone call and desk exercises are all great ways to add a little bit of movement into your day!Here are a few ways to move more, move well and keep moving while at home:






Live Movement Sessions

UBC Recreation wants to bring movement to you! All of these FREE sessions can be accessed from anywhere. All you need is your phone, tablet or laptop!

Everyone has different abilities and comfort levels, so please feel free to adapt movements and drills so that these classes work for you. Remember to work at an intensity appropriate for your fitness level. If this is your first time trying an online class, start off easy! If at any time you feel like you need a break, go ahead and take some time. Remember to consider any injuries or pre-existing conditions you may have.

Each of these classes requires a clear space of about 2 square meters to perform this class. Make sure to consider any other people or furry friends that may come into your space during the class. And finally, please remember there are inherent risks involved in any type of physical activity, including – overexertion; risk of bodily injury; impact or entanglement with obstructions; changes in the condition of room surfaces; use, misuse, or non-use of fitness related equipment; loud amplified music or instruction;contact or collision with equipment, props.
