Families are adjusting to a new normal as schools, daycares, camps, sports teams, and other routine activities are suspended as a result of COVID-19. Caregivers are facing unique challenges, with work life balance taking on new meaning. It is more important than ever to keep connected, and to reach out to one another for support. Here’s how UBC Recreation & Camps can help:
Recorded Play & Learn Sessions
UBC is bringing guided play and learning to your living room! We are offering your family FREE live streamed activity sessions on a variety of topics: art, science, nutrition, drama, wellness, enrichment and more. Sessions are accessible through a smartphone, tablet or laptop, and are designed for children to be able to participate without hands-on involvement from parents/guardians. We know caregivers could use a break!
We have split our guided activities into two broad age categories: ages 6-8 and 9-12. Some sessions will require children to gather materials with the help of their caregivers ahead of the live streamed session (ex. a notebook and pencil, bath towel, balloon, crayons or felt pens, paper clips, etc.). If materials are required, they will be clearly listed in the calendar description below.
At Home with Kids
With children and caregivers living, working and playing in shared spaces, all family members are learning to interact and relate a little differently! Here are our tips for ensuring everyone’s wellbeing:
