Amadea Hallwas

Bio

Amadea Hallwas began her dance journey at the age of 3, and has trained in Contemporary, Modern, Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, Lyrical and Hip Hop. Amadea spent 10 years as a competitive dancer and successfully obtained prestigious awards such as a Canadian National Silver Medal in Contemporary, 1st Place in the top Solo Contemporary category at the Surrey Festival of Dance in 2010, and multiple 1st Place standings for her own choreographic creations. She retired from the competition circuit at 17 to teach the next generation of dancers at her home studio XBa DanceCo, and in 2011 was offered a position with The diskordanse Contemporary Company, based in South Surrey. Amadea is currently the Principal Dancer for diskordanse, as well as an established teacher in the Lower Mainland. She also earned her International Certification in Dance Studies – Level III from UNESCO’s International Dance Council in 2014. Amadea is in her final year of her Bachelors of Arts degree at The University of British Columbia, and is looking forward to another season working with the UBC Recreation Centre!
