Anthony Tomov

Anthony started his Jiu-Jitsu journey in 2013 at Gracie Barra Vancouver. He is a BJJ Purple belt instructor and competitor who enjoys sharing his knowledge on the art. He teaches Adults and kids and believes that the benefits of the sport goes beyond the body to the mind, building strong, confident and self-disciplined people. At UBC he runs a Intro to No-Gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu class welcome to all level of experience on Saturdays.

BJJ is founded on the concept that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend themselves against a bigger, stronger, heavier opponent. This is done by using technique, leverage, and most notably, taking the fight to the ground, and then applying joint locks and chokeholds to defeat the opponent. BJJ training can be used for sport grappling tournaments and in self-defense situations
