Fred Kohlberg

Fred emerged in 2005 as a first time dragon boater with the Fraser Dragons. In 2006 he became the Team Manager, as well as being a paddler on the team and a substitute steers person. By 2009 Fred was instrumental in putting together Richmond’s first senior’s dragon boat team to compete in the BC Senior’s Games, held at the UBC Boathouse, that year. Thus emerged the Twisted Dragons. In 2010, in addition to being Team Manager for the Fraser Dragons and the Twisted Dragons, he took on the responsibility of running the John M. S. Lecky UBC Boathouse dragon boat drop-in paddling sessions, which carries on in 2011. Fred is also coaching some of the dragon boat training sessions at the Richmond Olympic Oval indoor paddling tank. Fred always looks forward to the start of paddling season, even though for him, paddling really is a year round passion.
