2023 UBC-V Faculty and Staff Sports Day

UBC Vancouver’s Staff & Faculty Sports Day returned this year with a historical turnout! This year we had 567 participants, 117 teams, 22 activity stations, and an all-new beer garden as part of the Sports Day Après experience. Each team had the opportunity to participate in various activities of their choosing, attempting to complete the most activities during their 1.5-hour time slot. Needless to say, the day was filled with some friendly competition. The teams SUDs and ChatAPSC came out on top: emerging as our overall winners for the afternoon.

Aside from all the fierce competition, there was plenty of opportunity for participants to create new connections across departments and solidify existing friendships within their teams. There were also lots of costumes on display, as many teams wanted to showcase their team spirit! Be sure to check out the photo gallery below for all the highlights of the event and images from our photo booth.

We wrapped up the afternoon with some snacks and beverages as the teams celebrated their efforts from the day. New for this year, the après portion of the event included a beer garden. Following this, we held our awards ceremony where we were able to recognize the award winners and hand out prizes for our outstanding participants.

A big thank you to everyone who participated! From the organizing team and event day staff, it was a true pleasure to see so many smiling faces and be able to bring our school community together for a bit of fun! We are looking forward to hosting this event again next year!

Course Map & Event Schedule

Familiarize yourself with where to check-in on the event day along with when your team should arrive. This year’s start and finish area are now on MacInnes Family Field and we’ve brought back the beer garden as part of the Apres festivities!

Event Day Walkthrough & FAQs

In case you still have a few questions about the event, take a read through the walkthrough guide. If there’s something we haven’t answered, send an email to our team at sports.day@ubc.ca.

Sports Day Reg Extended to Apr 30

It’s official, this year’s edition of the Faculty & Staff Sports Day is on track to be one of the biggest ever with over 100 teams already signed up! To ensure that everyone has a chance to join in on the fun, we’ve kept the registration open through April 30.

For those teams already registered, keep your eyes peeled for email updates to your team captain with details on completing online waivers and information about advanced check-in on Thursday, May 4. Also, be sure to check back next week for:

  • Virtual Sports Day Activities – several synchronous and asynchronous activities are being offered from May 1-3 as part of the Sports Week celebrations. These programs are perfect if you are unable to join for the in-person event and good warm-up for those warming up for the big day!
  • Sports Day Activities Guide – an update sharing the full details and rules of all activities will be shared early next week to allow teams an opportunity to plan and scheme the optimal way to spend their afternoon!
