Our Junior Programs accommodate youth of all levels, abilities, and interests by allowing them to develop the fundamentals of the game at an early age and build a solid foundation for lifelong tennis. The UBC Tennis Centre offers comprehensive programs both for recreational players and those interested in competing.

All Red, Orange and Green Ball programs at UBC follow the Progressive Tennis system where players learn the game through a fun game-based approach with modified courts, rackets and tennis balls. If you are unsure about which program your child should register for, talk with your coach, visit our Tennis Junior Pathways, or email us at tennis.centre@ubc.ca.

Ages are calculated based on the age the child will be on Dec 31 of the calendar year that the program takes place in. (e.g. A child who is 9 turning 10 by the end of the program year will qualify for the Green Fundamentals program.)

Please note the following age restrictions for each program:

  • Red Fundamental, Development & Competitive – ages 6-7
  • Orange Fundamental, Development & Competitive – ages 8-9
  • Green Fundamental, Development & Competitive – ages 10-11
  • Youth Fundamental, Development & Competitive – ages 12-13
  • Teen Fundamental, Development & Competitive – ages 14-17
