Heather has been teaching dance in Vancouver and Burnaby since 2003. Her early training included the Royal Acadaemy of Dance ballet technique and examinations and later Cecchetti technique and modern dance at Arts Umbrella. She graduated from the Performance Intensive program at Maindance and then moved to Toronto where she completed the training program at the school of Toronto Dance theatre. Later she studied as a dance/ theatre apprentice with Jumpstart Performance Company.
Before discovering teaching Heather could be found on stage in Toronto and Vancouver in productions such as 12 min max, Dancing on the edge and The Kiss Project. Now she is thoroughly enjoying sharing her love of dance through teaching and choreography in both ballet and modern dance forms.
In her classes Heather encourages artistic expression and musicality while working with students on good healthy alignment and technique. She aims to cultivate a supportive environment where creativity can flourish regardless of your level of experience.

Lauren has trained in ballet, jazz, contemporary, tap, lyrical, and salsa for over 20 years in both Vancouver and Singapore. In 2022, she expanded her practice into choreography and hip hop, performing with and directing campus dance teams, and now dancing with Quill Collective dance company. Over the past four years, Lauren has discovered a passion for creating movement that draws inspiration from many different styles. She is excited to share her experience in the studio and help students explore their own artistry through dance.

Ludovica Mazzucato is a professional ballet instructor, dancer, and choreographer with extensive international experience across Europe, North America, Latin America, and the Middle East. She began her training at the Accademia di Danza Comini in Padova, Italy, studying for the ISTD Cecchetti certifications and later completing the National Diploma of Teacher of Classical Dance (Vaganova Method), recognized by the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI).
In the course of her career, she has trained, performed, and taught across a variety of styles, including ballet, contemporary, modern, jazz, and theatre jazz, to name a few. Her advanced teacher training includes the Master of Arts in Education, Dance Teaching with the Royal Academy of Dance (UK), as well as certifications with the Harkness Center for Dance Injuries at NYU (USA).
Ludovica has performed and collaborated with internationally renowned choreographers and companies, performing and teaching her own works as well as the repertoire of artists including Jiří Kylián, Hans Van Manen, Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures, Akram Khan, José Vidal y Cía., and Batsheva Dance Company. She has led workshops and masterclasses for almost two decades, and her works have been staged internationally.
Her teaching balances technical expertise with creativity, musicality, and individual artistry. At UBC, her classes emphasize both technical confidence and expressive maturity, inviting new and established dancers to experience ballet as both a discipline, a cultural art form, and a wonderful way to enjoy who we are.

Makenzi has been dancing since the age of three and discovered her love of teaching after graduating from high school. She loves welcoming new faces into class and creating an environment where everyone feels supported, confident, and excited to learn. She has trained in a wide range of styles, including ballet, lyrical, contemporary, jazz, hip hop, modern, acrobatics, and Broadway – with jazz and hip hop among her favourites.
Makenzi believes that staying active through fun, unconventional forms of movement, especially in a group setting, can make exercise more enjoyable and help people stay accountable to their goals. Her aim is for every class to feel personal, positive, and energizing, with dancers leaving on a high and eager to come back.
She’s excited to support students as they grow in confidence and continue their dance journeys at UBC.

Emily grew up dancing in Guelph, Ontario, where she trained in ballet, jazz, contemporary, hip hop, and her favourite – musical theatre! She began teaching at her home studio before heading to Queen’s University, where she discovered a love for teaching musical theatre dance.
Emily is passionate about creating a safe, playful, and welcoming environment where dancers can let loose, build confidence, and have fun. Her classes are upbeat and full of personality, with plenty of opportunities to perform, be a little silly, and embrace your inner theatre kid.
She can’t wait to bring the energy, drama, and plenty of jazz hands to Theatre Jazz at UBC!

Marianna discovered her passion for dance at the age of five, beginning with traditional Chinese Dance before expanding her training into hip hop, jazz, ballet, contemporary, tap, and musical theatre. While she has developed experience across many styles, hip hop has been her favourite since her very first class.
Over the years, Marianna has continued her training through competitive and drop-in dance programs, including experience with an elite adult performance team and mentorship from experienced choreographers and instructors. She has also taught more than 50 drop-in classes across a range of levels and styles, from beginner jazz funk to intermediate and advanced choreography.
Above all, Marianna strives to create a welcoming and supportive community where dancers feel comfortable expressing themselves, having fun, and challenging themselves to grow. She is excited to bring her energy and passion for dance to UBC and help students build their skills and confidence.
