Thompson Bouldering Competition | UBC Recreation

Come test your bouldering skills at the BirdCoop Bouldering Competition on Friday, February 6! All new boulder problems will be set for the competition.

Climbers will each get 1 hour to complete the hardest climbs they can. There will be up to 5 climbers in each 1-hour time slot; so plan to climb with your friends and have fun. Climbers will compete in one of six groups: men’s or women’s / beginner, intermediate, or advanced (roughly V0-V1, V2-V4, V5 and above).

Key Information:

  • Date: Friday, February 6
  • Time: Time slots last for one hour and run from 9:30 AM – 9:30 PM
  • Location: BirdCoop Climbing Cave
  • Registration: Register online, or speak with the staff at the SRC front desk
  • Prerequisites: No previous experience required
  • Required Equipment: Climbing shoes will not be provided for use, so please wear appropriate footwear and clothing
  • Cost:
    • UBC Rec Fitness Centre Member Rate – $10.00
    • Non-member Rates
      • UBC Student – $15.00
      • UBC Faculty & Staff – $16.00
      • Public Adult – $17.00 | UNA/CSC Adult – $16.00
      • Senior – $13.00 | UNA/CSC Senior – $12.00

Sign-in: Please arrive no earlier than 15 minutes prior to your registered start time. Upon sign-in, please indicate with the Climbing Cave staff which of the 6 groups you will be competing at; Open or women’s / beginner, intermediate, or advanced (roughly V0-V1, V2-V4, V5 and above).

Prizing: Prizing will be awarded for the winner in each group
