Our Junior Programs accommodate youth of all levels and abilities by allowing them to develop the fundamentals of the game at an early age and continue the progression to becoming tournament-level players. The UBC Tennis Centre uses a Progressive Tennis methodology where players learn the game through a fun game-based approach with modified courts, rackets and tennis balls. If you are unsure about which program your child should register for, talk with your coach, or contact our reception desk.
Ages are calculated based on the age as of Dec 31 of the current year. (e.g. A child was born in 2013 and is 9 turning 10 this year will qualify for the Green Fundamentals program.)
Please note the following age restrictions for each program:
- Red Fundamental & Competitive – ages 6-7
- Orange Fundamental & Competitive – ages 8-9
- Green Fundamental & Competitive – ages 10-11
- Youth Fundamental & Competitive – ages 12-13
- Teen Fundamental & Competitive – ages 14-17
Private & Semi-Private Lessons
Private instruction is one of the best ways to improve your game quickly. All UBC Tennis coaches are certified and trained to take your game to the next level. Private and Semi-Private lessons are taken based on the coaches’ availability so often clients will be placed on a waiting list until a suitable coach and time is available.
Private | Semi-Private | Group of 3 | Group of 4 | |
Instructor | $77 | $87 | $97 | $107 |
Tennis Director or High Performance Coach | $87 | $97 | $107 | $117 |
How to Request Lessons
If you would like to be added to the waitlist for Private or Semi-Private lessons, please fill out the request form. Please be aware that by filling out the request form, you are not guaranteed to instantly receive confirmation of a scheduled lesson. Once the request form is submitted, you will be placed on the waitlist and will be contacted when a coach becomes available.
Please note: Private lessons are highly sought after and the current waitlist is extensive. We encourage participants to register for programs first and then to request private lessons directly from the coach of the program if they are interested. Coaches will prioritize participants registered in UBC programs.
