Howl at the Moon | Know Before You Go!

The Howl at the Moon volleyball tournament is coming up and it is going to be out of this world! The following contains important information to read over before the event. Read important event day info below.

WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE

WHO: Teams of 4-8 people. Teams must meet the mixed ratio. This means that out of four players on the court, there can only be a maximum of 2 self-identifying men on the court at one time. Your roster can have a maximum of 8 players, with a maximum of 5 self-identifying men. Roster deadline is Thursday, October 16th at 5pm!

WHAT: Howl at the Moon volleyball tournament – a late night volleyball adventure!

WHEN: Friday, October 17th with timeslots at 5:00 pm, 7:00pm, 9:00pm and 11:00pm. Your captain will inform you which pool you are in.

WHERE: The Gyms in the Student Recreation Centre (SRC) – 6000 Student Union Blvd, Vancouver, BC V6T 1Z1


Waiver Submission Deadline: February 28th | Action Required:

All participants must fill out an online waiver! Team members will not appear on your roster until an online waiver is signed. Waivers must be signed by Thursday, October 16th at 12:00PM. Please relay this information to your teammates to avoid any miscommunication.


Event Day Information

Reminders: Arrive 20 minutes prior to the start of your game to allow time for registration.  All team members to bring their physical Student ID. Players without their physical student ID will NOT be allowed to play.

Format and Timings:

  • Initial 2-hour time slot where you will play 30-minute games. First two sets are capped at 21 points with the third going to 15 points. 
  • Each team will play 3 games in their timeslot. The top 2 teams in each pool will move to playoffs. 
  • Round of 16 games are 20-minute games and begin at 1:00AM 
  • Quarterfinals are 20-minute games and begin at 1:40AM 
  • Semifinals are 30-minute games and begin at 2:05AM

Note that these rules are different from regular intramural volleyball leagues. Knowing the rules before you play will make it a smoother experience for your team.
