Music - Press Start: Exploring Video Game Music

Program provided in partnership with UBC Chan Centre for the Performing Arts

Dive into the world of video game music during this exciting full-day camp! The Rainbow Crystal of the Realm has fallen to the forces of darkness and the world needs a group of brave heroes to reclaim it. Will you join their ranks?  This camp introduces participants to the Elements of Music (melody, harmony, rhythm, etc.) using some of your favourite video soundtracks from Super Mario, Pokémon, Minecraft, and beyond!  Explore heroes’ themes, villains’ themes, and battle music in video games through engaging games, crafts, and activities. Solve a video game music-themed escape room, test your listening skills as you play a life-sized board game, and more!

Campers will also work with partners to compose their own video game hero theme using GarageBand.  This original composition will be showcased to family and friends during a special concert at the end of the week.
