Victoria

Victoria is a certified personal trainer who applies her academic background in physics to design workouts that are both effective and smart. She focuses on proper body mechanics and movement under resistance to help clients achieve sustainable results.

She specializes in strength and body composition training, blending science with creativity to keep workouts engaging and motivating. Victoria is a supportive coach who empowers clients of all levels to master technique, prevent injury, and build confidence in the gym.

Fun fact: Her go-to recovery fuel is cottage cheese with berries and honey.

Trixie

Trixie is a 2nd-year UBC Kinesiology student and an American Council on Exercise (ACE) Certified Personal Trainer. Growing up, she was always passionate about sports, and this eventually evolved into a deeper interest in the body and strength training.

She specializes in strength and hypertrophy training, as well as weight loss. Trixie believes that fitness is a lifelong journey and takes a transformational approach with her clients, combining effective techniques with education to help them build sustainable, healthy lifestyles.

Fun fact: She only listens to 2016 rap in the gym.

Simon

Saad

Saad is an NSCA Certified Personal Trainer and a Kinesiology student at UBC, where he spends much of his time learning how the body works and how to make it stronger.

His training approach focuses on building strength, improving mobility, and helping people feel more capable in their everyday lives. Whether a client’s goal is to get stronger, build muscle, or simply feel more confident in their body, Saad works to create a supportive and effective training experience that helps them get there.

Fun fact: Saad firmly believes the ultimate test of strength is carrying all your grocery bags in one trip.

Pawan

Pawan is a 4th-year UBC Political Science student and an ISSA Certified Personal Trainer. His fitness journey began with weight management challenges, but through dedication he has lost over 120 lbs and built sustainable habits that fuel his passion for sports and training.

He specializes in weight loss and creating approachable, sustainable paths to fitness that make exercise more accessible for everyone. Pawan is committed to helping clients discover what works for them and to lower the barrier to entry for those starting their own fitness journey.

Fun fact: He is currently training for his black belt in Goju-Ryu Karate while pursuing other martial arts.

Mya

Marshal

Marshal is a UBC Kinesiology undergraduate and certified personal trainer with experience coaching clients at UBC Recreation. His background includes strength training, functional training, hypertrophy, and general fitness, and he enjoys helping clients build confidence while working toward their goals.

Marshal focuses on helping clients develop strong technique and sustainable training habits. His programming emphasizes progressive overload, proper movement mechanics, and individualized plans that support long-term progress and consistency.

As a coach, Marshal aims to create a supportive and motivating training environment where clients feel comfortable, accountable, and encouraged throughout their fitness journey.

Fun fact: Marshal first got into fitness through basketball and speaks fluent Mandarin.

Markus Y.

Markus is a UBC Kinesiology student and a certified personal trainer through the American Council on Exercise (ACE). He brings over six years of personal weightlifting experience, along with an extensive background in ice hockey and Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Markus has worked with a wide range of clients, from older adults managing chronic conditions to teenage beginners.

He specializes in strength, hypertrophy, and functional training, and is passionate about helping clients reach their goals while building the confidence and knowledge to train independently. Markus believes exercise should be enjoyable and strives to support clients in creating a healthy, sustainable lifestyle.

Fun fact: Markus loves rom-coms.

Marcus H.

Marcus brings experience working with multiple UBC Athletics programs, supporting participants across a wide range of ages—from adolescents to older adults. As an upper-year kinesiology student at University of British Columbia, he combines academic knowledge of human movement with a lifelong background in sports, martial arts, and strength training.

Marcus takes a collaborative and adaptable approach to training, working alongside clients to identify strategies that best support their individual goals. His programming emphasizes safe progression, strength development, and sustainable habits that promote long-term health and performance.

His coaching style focuses on building confidence, encouraging consistency, and helping clients develop skills they can carry into lifelong training.

Fun fact: Marcus completed a 17-hour hike this past summer.

Kai

Kai is a third-year Kinesiology student at the University of British Columbia and a NASM Certified Personal Trainer. Growing up playing a variety of sports, Kai developed a strong foundation in athletic performance, discipline, and teamwork that continues to shape his approach to training today.

As a varsity athlete at UBC, Kai brings firsthand experience from high-performance sport into his coaching. He is passionate about helping clients improve their strength, conditioning, and confidence through structured, goal-oriented training. Kai focuses on building sustainable habits and creating a supportive environment where clients feel motivated to push themselves and achieve their fitness goals.

Fun fact: Kai is a varsity athlete on the UBC football team.

James

James is a Kinesiology graduate who views fitness as a powerful form of medicine. His journey began with the discipline of calisthenics before transitioning into a four-year focus on bodybuilding, muscle hypertrophy, and strength development.

With experience ranging from neurological rehabilitation at the Physical Activity Research Centre (PARC) to pediatric physiotherapy at Kids Physio Group, James specializes in meeting clients exactly where they are. He brings empathy and compassion to every session, helping individuals develop a positive relationship with both food and movement while building sustainable habits for long-term health.

Fun fact: James has coached youth soccer for two local clubs and has a background in both Muay Thai and dance.

Brendan

Brendan is a Kinesiology graduate and personal trainer at UBC whose passion for fitness began through years of competitive sports and strength training. His experience in exercise instruction began at the PARC in the Blusson Spinal Cord Centre, where he worked with individuals with spinal cord injuries to develop safe and effective adapted exercise programs.

Through his continued work at PARC as a fitness instructor and clinical exercise educator, Brendan specializes in delivering highly personalized training programs that support health, longevity, and functional movement. His approach emphasizes building strong relationships with clients while helping them overcome barriers, build confidence, and develop sustainable habits that make fitness an enjoyable part of everyday life.

Fun fact: Brendan is currently training for the Vancouver BMO Marathon and loves to hike the beautiful scenery in British Columbia.
