Historic LongBoat Filled with Sunshine & Smiles

The 41st edition of Day of the LongBoat kicked off another year at UBC with a record breaking 479 teams taking to the waters off Jericho Beach over the weekend of October 3 and 4. Voyageur canoes with 8-10 paddlers raced on the mostly calm waters although more than a few boats capsized when the winds picked up on Saturday afternoon. Despite getting a bit wet, the 4,500 plus paddlers that took part in the event went home with smiles on their faces after a fall weekend blessed with sunshine and warm weather.

The next UBC Intramurals event is Water Wars on October 15. Registration closes on October 12.

Day of the LongBoat will return in 2027 in late September and early October.
