Welcome back Thunderbirds! Another school year means more opportunities to try new things and get active. Whether you’re brand new or a seasoned vet at UBC, it can be overwhelming to get back into the swing of things. Lucky for you, I’m from the Move U Crew and I’m here to help you get started!
Firstly, there are so many different resources, services, and programs here at UBC Recreation to keep you active and healthy throughout the school year. If you’re new to recreation or just looking to talk about your goals, I recommend trying out a Physical Activity Coaching session. In a 30-minute virtual session, a Move U Crew member will help connect you with programs that fit your interests and help you set achievable goals! Register now for a Physical Activity Coaching session.
Do you enjoy going on walks and meeting new people? If you answered yes, you should check out our Wellbeing walk series. Twice a month, on Wednesdays at noon, the Move U Crew hosts free-themed walks on campus. Some of the walks this year include, a Nitobe garden guided tour, a movie scavenger hunt, a puppy walk and more! Did I mention these walks are free? By registering for these walks you gain access and perks to spaces that would otherwise cost you. Register now for a Wellbeing Walk.
Or maybe a fitness class followed by a wellness presentation is more your speed? If so, check out our Lunch and Lift workshop series. These are free 2-in-1 interactive sessions where you exercise for the first 30 mins then participate in a 30-minute wellbeing session led by a UBC professional. Sounds like a win-win to me! The wellbeing sessions cover a multitude of topics from inro to biking to sleep & academics – there’s so much to learn. Register now for Lunch+Lift.
Hopefully, this gave you a taste of what the Move U Crew has to offer when it comes to your wellbeing on campus. We’re looking forward to moving with you soon!
