Martial Arts
Find focus and build self-confidence while achieving mental and physical strength. UBC Recreation offers a variety of martial arts taught by experienced martial arts instructors who integrate discipline, precision, power, and self-defense into every lesson. The classes we offer, include but are not limited to: Aikido, Tae Kwon Do, Iaido, and Judo. All levels are welcome to connect your mind and body, while developing your own strength, feeling of safety, empowerment and confidence.
Dance
Reduce your everyday stress and discover your favourite style of music to move and groove to! Taught by professional and energetic instructors, the wide variety of dance styles available can help you improve your posture and balance, tone your muscles, enhance your flexibility, and allow you to express yourself in a fun and welcoming environment.
Progress through different levels of ballet or learn new choreography through hip hop, K-Pop, or several different contemporary dance styles.
Fundamentals of Fitness
Whether you’re new to fitness or looking to build on your existing knowledge, Fundamentals of Fitness classes are designed to help you feel confident, capable, and strong. You’ll learn how to use equipment safely and effectively, develop proper technique for foundational movements, and build a solid base for long-term progress. Led by knowledgeable instructors, each session offers personalized guidance in a fun, supportive, and inclusive group environment – so you can grow at your own pace while enjoying the journey.
Classes include introductory and intermediate weightlifting programs as well as women’s focused classes.
