Please be aware that on Saturday, October 24, the Great Trek run will be taking place on campus. To support the course of this event, significant road closures and impacts will be in place from 7:00AM – 1:30PM on Saturday, October 25, 2025. Budget additional travel time when visiting and moving around campus.
Race Day Traffic Advisory
All traffic from Chancellor Blvd will be detoured to Wesbrook Mall, exceptions given for vehicles accessing the UBC Rose Garden Parkade, MOA, Cecil Green, and Chan Centre loading dock. SW Marine Dr will be closed north of W 16th Ave to the intersection with Chancellor Blvd. West Mall will be closed between Agriculture Rd and NW Marine Dr. SW Marine Dr between W 16th Ave and Kullahun Dr will be closed to Southbound traffic. Northbound traffic lanes will remain open. Controlled crossing will be available for vehicles accessing the UBC Botanical Garden via Stadium Rd. No traffic will be permitted on Old Marine Dr.
Full Road Closures:
East Mall – University Boulevard to Crescent Road (access to Chan loading bay will be provided)
Crescent Road – East Mall to West Mall
NW Marine Drive – West Mall to 16th Avenue**
University Boulevard – Main Mall to NW Marine Drive
Lower Mall – Memorial Road to University Boulevard
West Mall – University Boulevard to NW Marine Drive
Memorial Road – East Mall to Lower Mall

Lane Closures
SW Marine Drive:
All southbound lanes CLOSED from 16th Avenue to Kullahun Drive. Southbound traffic detoured to 16th Avenue eastbound.
One northbound lane open for northbound traffic.
Old Marine Drive:
Southbound lane closed, no traffic can exit Old Marine Drive onto SW Marine.
Limited northbound traffic will be accommodated through gaps in runners from SW Marine Drive.
Access & Additional Information:
Traffic Exiting Campus: All outbound traffic via SW Marine Drive will be blocked. Please use 16th Avenue, University Boulevard, or Chancellor Boulevard to leave campus.
Transit Impacts: Public transit detours until approximately 1:30 PM. Visit TransLink.ca for route updates.
UBC Botanical Garden Access: Via Stadium Road during gaps in runners
Hospice Access: Available via East Mall and Stadium Road
